Magnum Sales System 1.75 Update
- Item #: Magnum175Update
- Manufacturer: MagAero Systems
NOTE: This is an UPDATE only. You must already have a full version of the Magnum Sales System installed on your point of sale computer. This CD will update your point of sale computer to the latest version of the Magnum Sales System.
A lot of work has gone into the creation of Version 1.75, and there are a number of new features. In most cases, the new abilities of the program are consistent with the operations you are already familiar with. In a few instances, totally new capabilities have been added to the program. All of the changes are such that you should have no trouble either doing a particular operation as you have always done, or using the new feature to allow you to do things you could not do in the past. Even though we have added new features, we have tried to make it as simple as possible, so little or no new learning is required. Some of the features have already been out in stores being “Road Tested”, so if you are currently using versions 1.74C, 1.74D, or 1.74E, you may have already seen a few of the new features.
The biggest single effort was to provide the ability to use other types of removable data devices such as flash drives, CD Drives, and external hard drives in addition to, or in place of, the floppy disk. Floppy disks are still usable, but now you have a few more options. In short, anywhere where you could read from or write to a floppy disk, you can now select a different drive or device by selecting a different letter. Keep in mind, though, that the new device must be readable (or write-able) already on the computer, and must have a drive letter to identify it. Flash drives, for example, must have a one-time driver installation for the particular brand and model of drive for them to work. To make flash drive usage simple, we sell a kit containing two flash drives, a driver disk, and full instructions for $19.95 on our website, http://www.magnumss.com/download.htm
Here’s a list of places where you can now use a flash drive or other device:
- In the Orders Screen to Import a Bill of Lading.
- In the Orders Screen to Export a Requisition.
- In the Transfers Screen to Export an already created Requisition.
- In the Transfers Screen to Export an Inventory Report.
- In the Transfers Screen to Export price update files.
- In the Inventory Screen to Export an Inventory Report.
- In the Sales Screen to Export Backup Sales Data.
- In the Reports screen to create sales Reports from the Backup Data.
The Sales module now checks to see if the drive selected to receive your backup sales data is actually ready to go. If it’s not, or an invalid drive is selected, it will give you a message that there is a problem.
A new utility has been added to the Utilities Menu that allows you to delete old sales data from the master Sales Database. This utility also compacts the database for optimum performance. The old database is also saved without changes as a backup.
The Database Utilities have been moved to the Utilities Menu from the Inventory Menu.
Added a utility to “Protect” barcodes from being over-written when the prices are updated from the WSLCB price update files. This allows using barcodes on items sourced from outside the WSLCB (such as wines) when the same product is also available from the WSLCB. You set up the items with your own item number, and assign the barcode on the item in the setup. If you are planning on changing over to Non-State wines, this is for you.
Once an item has been entered into a sale in progress and is no longer showing on the top item entry line, should that line be deleted, or the entire sale deleted before it is posted, that deletion will be logged to a special database. The date, time, item number, and quantity will be logged. This database is not accessible from within the Magnum program. You, as the store owner/manager, must manually access the log file. This was a dishonest employee cannot partially ring up a sale, collect the money, pocket the money, and cancel the sale, without leaving a trace.
There are also a number of small changes, most of which are invisible, but that allow the program to function more smoothly and efficiently.
